Persuasive Speech On Drill Serve

During competition season, your team is your family, because you are with them more than your actual family. But nothing …show more content…
My team has been very successful the past three years. We earned one region title (2015) and have placed 8th or higher at state the past three years. As an individual member I have also been very successful. I have competed in a total of 15 drill team competitions. I have also earned a spot in all three competition routines for all three years. I was named a member of the Academic All-State and All-Region

I just want to bring perspective to why I decided to form a team, and why it has been so successful for me and my teammates. In this sport, unless you have lived it yourself, no one else can ever truly appreciate the lows and highs, the sacrifices, the mood swings, the doubts , the fears, the anxiety, the pleasure, the intensity, and the list go on, of what we as competitors go through in preparation for the “big day”! We are in an elite group of people that most do not, and cannot, understand. So, to have a team of girls that truly “get it”, is something that I have grown to love and cherish. It is a sisterhood that supports each other and lift each other up.…

We are expected to be full time students while also being full time athletes. Morning practices start at 6 A.M., and don’t end until 7:50 at times, leaving very little time to get ready for that 8 A.M. class. Then there is practice after classes, and sometime between then and bedtime we have to find time to do homework. On top of everything else, we are required to have six hours of study hall a week; that, along with keeping our GPA above a 3.2, is mandatory. Now don’t get me wrong...playing sports in college is a huge privilege, and I love having the title of “Student Athlete;” but it’s also the hardest thing I have ever done in my life, and our season hasn’t even started yet!…
