Hope everyone is having a good week so far.
Let me first start with letting you all know I find this disscussion a little harder than the others. After reading the meaning of what the lines are and what they do I hope I am on the right page. The images I will be using in my disscussion I found on the internet. I will also took a picture of a panting for my Dr office that I will post and maybe you all can help me figure out which lines are used in it.

The lines are to define the edge of an object to emphasize the volume or mass of the form. Which after learning what a contour line was and I diffenently see that was what the artist of this drawing was trying to do. If it wasn't for the more in details lines I don't think I would have been able to tell that this is an image of a man dress shoe.

This image is an example of a cross contour line. it has parallel lines that run across the surface of an object.
By those lines being cross like they are has allowed it to appear 3-D. The lines help define the actually look of a shell. It even allows us to see the inside of the shell that if it hadn't been draen using the cross contour lines we wouldn't be able to see it.
