Reflection On A Speaker's Credibility

For the brief presentation, nonverbal behaviors are very crucial in adding to one’s speaker credibility. One of the factors to establish one’s credibility is whether if the person seem confident in the information being relayed. In the presentation, I looked like I knew what I was talking about and knowledgeable about the information I was giving because I did not need to read from the power point, nor did I make many vocal interferences to stop to think what to say. I also made a lot of eye contact with the audience. By making good eye contact with the audience, I was able to better connect with them and make it more personal. I barely had any influx in the volume of my voice, nor did I made any facial expressions. Due to this, this detracted my credibility towards the audience since what I was saying did not match with the tone of my voice. If I had made my presentation more dynamic, the listener would have been more interested in what I had to say and be more engaged. Additionally, if I was more animated where I wanted to emphasize on topics, the listeners would have paid more attention to that information that I have given, and realize that it is important. The tones and facial expressions are important because it shows your attitude and feelings towards the topic, so when it was missing in my presentation, they could not get the same enthusiasm I had towards the topic, and therefore could not relate as easily. Body movements are also important because it helps enhance the speech being given. It makes the speaker more animated and into the topic which will also drive the audience’s interest. It can also help with emphasizing an important point by using gestures to show visually too. By combining the voice and gesture, one can optimize the information getting across to the
