Persuasive Speech
Make the Wisconsin Equestrian Team a NCAA Sport at UW-Madison
Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience that action needs to be taken to convert the Wisconsin Equestrian Team to a NCAA sport rather than IHSA.
Central Idea: The Wisconsin Equestrian Team is at an unfair disadvantage compared to larger schools competing in IHSA, while also at an unfair advantage to smaller schools with less resources. Our team alone has had an increase with four members additional every year. Where in 2015, the team accepted 45 members.
c. While the NCAA committee must approve for new teams, the National Collegiate Equestrian Association also requires votes to approve of new members.
i. Right now, the D1 teams rostered are Auburn, Brown, Texas A&M and University of Minnesota-
