In January of 20ll the Naples Daily News published a Slippery Slope essay about To-Do-Lists and New Years resolutions. It was a very nice essay, sweet. In part one of “How to Become a Straight-A Student” by Cal Newport the main of this story is how to not to work and study for twelve hours straight, to show how to manage your time doing some simple things and help you avoid the urge of procrastination. The five ideas that resonated with me was making a “To Do List” and a “Things to Remember Column”, to feed my body with nutrients, tell others of your work and go to an area where there is no one you know, plan the hard days in advance, and to study at least an hour straight and to rest from time to time. Making a to do list resonated with me because it showed how easy your day can be with this idea. Just like in the story of Stephen, Newport said that “Stephen was able to really relax and have a good time at night. ”(Newport, )…

In the book Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari and Eric Klinenberg, a comedian and a sociologist, both compared the modern and the old way of romance. Ansari and Klinenberg explained how the couples back in the 50’s through 90’s would meet and marry right away. People would marry within their neighborhood for example, in the same building of apartment, just couple blocks down from their house or parents would arrange their marriage. The relationship back then were three steps just somewhat similar today, meet each other, meet each other’s family and meet furthermore of each other throughout the marriage.…

Delicate chocolates fade to coconut cream as they pass the lips of an elated lover. A soft, devoted kiss is shared. Rose, musk, and sugary-sweet perspiration thicken the air. That is the futile romantic’s interpretation of Valentine’s Day; the commercialized passion that directs the heartstrings of every woman. True love however, ventures well away from the likes of The Notebook or Fifty Shades of Grey, and while I wouldn’t confess to have a perfect relationship I do admire my husband’s attempts to be my kindred spirit.…

Nathan suggested child abuse but Nicholas and I do not find abuse interesting so that idea goes down the drain. I think about hypothermia/blanket for homeless people. Humans have the tendency of comparing their lives with others and in doing so; they miss the charm of enjoying small moments of life. Couples tend to deviate from focusing on gathering happiness and love to be experienced together and rather strive to improve materialistic aspects of life. Unfortunately, couples do not realize the essence of a relationship and most of them think that getting a promotion, driving a better car or living in a lavish house is more important than staying happy and content with what they have. Lack of understanding and communication adds a rift in a relationship that becomes more a liability than a delightful journey which is filled with emotions of love and care.
