In 2010 there were only about 3,200 tigers left in the wild, yet there are more than 5,000 tigers kept in captivity just in the United States with owners who do not have the proper education on how to take care of their animal. The constant growth of the human population also takes a toll on tigers. World Wildlife Fund has vocalized about the endangerment of tigers, saying, “Tigers have lost 93% of their historical range. Their habitat has been destroyed, degraded and fragmented by human activities” (WWF).
Thankfully, World Wildlife Fund has stepped up to help protect tigers across the world. They have teamed up with governments to try and help tigers to thrive. With governments help, WWF has been able to designate land to tigers, and other wildlife, along with dropping the amount of illegal tiger trade in the black market. WWF has also monitored this species to help adapt their ways to help tigers. Around the United States, there are several marathons help every year to help with WWF’s programs. However, WWF isn’t just purely made up of volunteers, and there are “Six thousand staff. Six million members. In over 100 countries. We are united. And together, we are protecting life on Earth” (WWF). There are so many more ways WWF has accomplished. On September 21rst, 2014, people flooded the streets of New York for country representatives to give more attention to climate change. Some of the programs they offer include adopt an animal, which allows you to buy an animal package to donate to that animal cause, marathons, spread the news about endangered wildlife, and so much more. With the programs offered, WWF is able to help plants, animals, the Earth, and humans. WWF puts no restrictions on who can help, because life won’t change in a split second. You need people to help you. However, protecting these species and wildlife isn’t free, and millions of people around the world are needed to help bring their mission to those who need it
