Soldiers deserve honor and recognition for defending the freedom of the United States. Because they risk their lives so other Americans do not have to, we rightfully thank soldiers for their service. People generally regard honoring soldiers as respectful, and demonstrates that Americans value the soldier’s sacrifices for our country. However, for some people commending soldiers often includes more about their own personal gain and self-esteem than about respecting the soldier. Some people use honoring soldiers as an excuse to boost popularity, increase personal satisfaction, and worst of all, to make money.…

If the Newseum is torn down, the first amendment will not have a place to be celebrated just for itself, so there will be no place to celebrate the first American Constitutional freedom. President Trump is pressuring Congress into passing a bill that will start a project to make room for new monuments. The project will consist of tearing down monuments that the government feels are unnecessary. The project will ruin DC and the American spirit. If the bill does pass, the Newseum should definitely not be torn down since it is a reminder of what America is, it will have horrible economic effects on the country, and tearing it down will diminish the American spirit.…

The American flag is one of the last symbols of hope. It stands for life, support and freedom. One example of how the flag is a symbol of life is when people die the veterans, the soldiers or anyone who worked for this country bring all the flags to half-mast to honor the people that die during the incident that occurred. When a flag is old and tattered persons cut the stars out and send them to friends and family so the flag is remembered but isn't “suffering”. The U.S. flag also stands for support.…
