Persuasive Letter

Far away and long ago a kingdom stood on a hill, within it sat a contented king, a good man much loved by his subjects. His wife was adored by all for she was beautiful and kind, always willing to help those in need. His son was cheered in the streets as captain of the guard, his days were spent defending the kingdom from the many dangerous creatures that abounded in the dark forests bordering the land. His daughter was followed by the children of the kingdom as her fanciful daydreams made wonderful stories and always she had something new to tell. Though his daughter was witty and wise, she was also stubborn and the one source of frustration for the good, old king.

One summer night after a plentiful hunt the king called to the people to come to the castle for a feast! The only person unhappy about the feast was the poor Court Jester who knew that he would eat little this night. Not for want of food nor from any unkindness, he knew that not one there would object to his eating his fill. Rather, they would beg for his time and entertainment. Time and again, at every feast this happened. He would sit with a plate and the people would shout "Jester! Sing us a song!" or "Jester! At last the old man stopped under a large Oak tree and pointed up. Growing from one of the branches was a vine with small white berries. "Those are the moon. This is the Sun." He drew out a golden knife with a crescent shaped blade. Quickly the old man cut the berries from the tree and wrapped them in a piece of cloth, handing them to the Jester. "Be careful with them, they are sacred to the Druid. And you wouldn't want to offend me, would you?" With another cackle the old man stretched his crackling bones and began to walk
