My advice to makayla is to never get stuck on one question no longer than five minutes. It's okay to skip a question and come back to it later once you have answer all of the other questions. It's also okay to guess intelligently on some of the questions. I feel that you shouldn't always linger on the same questions, because that can cause you to loose most of you time on the test. John When writing I think John should just write everything out first step-by-step.…

Along my journey in school I remember all the sacrifices my parents did for me and my siblings. For example, my father Adolfo Garcia would work from Monday to Saturday from sun up to sun down in order to provide food on the table, clothing on our backs, and a roof over are heads. Although both of my parents encourage and motivate me to attend school and pursue higher education, I am also motivated by all the sacrifices they have made because I know that if it wasn’t for the support of my parents I would not be where I am…

Dear Mr. Burns and Mrs. Maro, Many students at Washington Middle School agree that the shorts rule shouldn't exist. For various reasons the shorts dress code is unfair and harmful to the students learning. The heat is unbearable let alone while wearing pants. In this letter I hope you realize how unfair and harmful the shorts dress code really is.…

When it comes to first time babies, people seem to completely and totally forget the father. The mother is given all of the advice, she has all of the published literature to refer to, baby literate friends and relatives and all the networks and support she could possibly need. But Fathers seem to be left completely alone to fend for themselves and to figure it out all on their own, which seems a bit unfair. Dads need advice too!…

Despite the new outburst of year-round schooling across the nation, I have the firm belief that we should retain the traditional system. Most schools who have switched to the year round calendar switched back to the traditional one because the anticipated instructional advantages haven’t materialized. In some cases, it even results in a drop of one to two percentile points in national rank for reading, math, and language scores, compared to a traditional calendar. It is not a good idea to keep making this change.…

School boards should be removed. Because the county already does most of the work. 1st if the school boards would be removed then the county would have to decide the school's finances, school unions, school closings and learning materials. 2nd schools would have more options because the countries should have the same budget for each school so they could not give a school more or less money.…

In elementary, I remember getting mouthwatering, giant cinnamon rolls once every few months as a desert for school lunch. Now many years later, the cinnamon rolls served at school are much smaller, have far less frosting, and have turned “whole grain”. Unfortunately, cinnamon rolls are not the only things that have been changed. Since elementary school, my classmates and I have noticed smaller serving sizes, fewer varieties of food choices, and more canned or frozen food. The change in cinnamon rolls, along with almost every other school lunch item can be blamed on the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act.…

Dear Mr. Richard, Mr. Hopey and other executives of the PSU Dining Commons, Imagine, students trudging back to their dorms in the dead of night, dragging their feet with heavy back packs in tow, creating as much distance as possible between them and the Paterno library, the place they had just spent six hours studying for their exam. Visualize a different scenario, Saturday night, students with smiles on their faces returning around 1-2 am to their dorms, hearts still racing from the excitement of the night. However, what is the next chapter of both these stories? It is this: students go on their laptop and make their way to the familiar site of OrderUp, an online food service, and place an order for greasy, unhealthy pizza or something of the like. This has become a tradition for the students here at Penn State, a building component to the infamous freshman 15.…

During my time in high school, our choir went to state every year, the art department won first in show year after year, and our forensics team won state two out of the three years I participated. We worked incredibly hard for those achievements; however, year after year, the allotted budget for extracurricular activities went to new football uniforms, or a new score board. We never understood why they got fresh uniforms and new equipment every two years when they couldn’t win one game. All the while, music clubs were stuck sharing sheet music, and the theater department paid for their own supplies for set design. Institutions of education across America carry the weight of shaping the next generations minds.…
