As time passes, many people in society are beginning to become more open to the idea of getting tattoos or piercings. Actually, about 40% of American adults have at least one tattoo, while 60% of American adults have either one piercing or more. Tattoos and piercings aren’t only a trend or style, but they are a form of art, a way of expression and another way to express your identity. Many employers think that people with tattoos/piercings not only look unprofessional, but they also give a bad representation of their businesses. However, people with tattoos and/or piercings should not be denied a job position because of their appearance. If more and more people are getting tattoos and piercings each day, why shouldn’t employers be more open …show more content…

However, if somebody really needs a service from your company, a person with tattoos will NOT scare them away. They might probably even be fascinated with the tattoos that the person has, depending on the creativity of it. For example, many hospitals don’t hire people with tattoos because diseases are believed to spread through the needles. If this is such a problem, the hospital employers should just test the people applying for any diseases instead of immediately eliminating them as a potential employee. Either way, hospitals get hundreds of people daily. A patient with a real emergency would not tell a doctor to stop checking them just because they are filled with tattoos. Since they are in desperate need of medical attention, they would put their health as a priority instead of focusing so much on the doctor’s appearance. This proves that a person with tattoos or piercings should not be denied a job position, even in important places like hospitals because it wouldn’t really make a difference of how the person is being
