Persuasive Essay Zoos

Decent Essays
Zoos lie to you about the animals. Many zoos claim that the reason why they exist and continue to breed animals is to help protect endangered species, but that not true. In fact most animals in zoos aren't endangered, and those who are likely never be released into natural habitats. I think we shouldn't have zoos.
Living without the important things to them can cause “zoochosis” which is a condition animals act strangely even hurt themselves from boredom or frustration. They don't get to do things that are natural and important to them because they're are stuck in cages with no privacy and can barely exercise or keep their mind active for these reasons I strongly believe that animals shouldn't be kept in zoos.
I think that zoos are dangerous

I have not been to zoos often, but when I have I have never witnessed animals in cages, particularly not the generic metal bar cages that are often seen in movies. Animals are kept in natural exhibits, with glass or open areas for viewing. Laidlaw eventually concluded that zoos should either improve their bad habits, or face losing their jobs. I am in agreement with this statement, however, I feel that most zoos do not have to face this choice as they are doing fine as it…

In these zoos, animals are treated cruelly and are killed for no reason, animals go through mental/psychological disorders, and lack the nutritious values that are only given to them in the wild. These reasons prove that zoos need to be shut down and these helpless animals deserve to live and thrive in the environment and habitat they come from. It is disturbing to think of how positive zoos are seen and how they are a popular attraction for people of all ages. Next time people go to a zoo, they should look closely at these animals and see the misery and depression in their…

Animals are still being forced to live inside cages that are radically smaller than the natural environment that they are meant to live in. Animals are meant to roam in the wild, free spaces and not locked in cages with fake tree, rocks, and ponds. Zoos should not exist because they are inhumane, expensive, and…

How would the public feel if a zoo where to take a baby right from the mother and have a bunch of people pet their baby? Not great, in fact the public would fight back so why are we not fighting back for animal mothers. The public should fight back for animal mothers and other animals. Although some animals get saved from extinction, its still cruel for the way they live always pacing back, and forth some animals just can't take it and strike! Birds pull feathers, mammals can't conceive anymore, animals stop eating.…

Zoos protect animals from these dangers and can help reintroduce endangered species back into the wild. “Quite simply without these efforts there would be fewer species alive today and ecosystems and the world as a whole would be poorer for it.” (Source D). These conservation efforts are important to the environment as the extinction of one species could devastate an entire ecosystem. Zoos are able to take care of animals much better than these animals can on their own.…

Animals should not be left or trapped in cages they should at least be given some time outside. Another argument is animals shouldn’t be in zoos. If the zookeepers treat the animals wrong the animals will get angry. If the zoo has low fences and the animals are really angry or mean they may get out and harm people. Most zoos already give animals a natural habitat but sometimes it’s just way too small for animals.…

Animals need to have access to enrichment activities that allow them to express their natural behavior. These enrichment activities or toys aim to encourage natural behaviours such as hunting, use of scent and hiding food, provide animal welfare by increasing exercise, satisfying ‘behavioural needs’ and stimulating animals, and to promote visitor education so that visitors can gain a better understanding of their natural behaviours and interests. An example of enrichment provided to animals in captivity is the lions. Lions are given ostrich eggs or pumpkin seeds to spark their curiosity, fragrant herbs and oils to excite the senses and specially made toys to encourage natural behaviours such as hunting and stalking. Another animal which receives enrichment is bears.…

Animals In Zoos Keeping animals in captivity is wrong. While zoos can be found in every big city in America and entertain millions of people each year the mistreatment, confinement, and unnatural living conditions of the wild animals far outweigh any benefits of zoos in America.
