Winter

Winter is the time of year where it gets cold. You want to wear a jacket when you go outside because you don’t want to be cold. In some places winter has snow, others have rain, some have rain and snow, and some even have storms. In the winter it is nice because you get to be around your family and have a cup of hot chocolate. Having hot chocolate with marshmallows and covering yourself with blankets makes you feel really happy and good inside. It’s even better when you watch a movie. All of those together and being with the family makes a really good winter.

Winter in the snow. There is so much to do when you are in the snow. You can make a snowman, have a snowball fight, make snow angels, go sledding, skiing, tubing, there are so many things to do! It is fun to play with your friends in the snow. Even if you don’t have a sled to use as a sled then try a boogie board. I have used it before and it works really well. If you are playing in the snow then make sure you have gloves that will keep your hands warm, shoes that keeps your toes warm, and a jacket to keep you warm too. Before going out and playing in the snow, you should be a little warm with what you have on.

You splash in puddles and get wet. Just be careful not to get sick. Almost every time I went out when it was raining I got sick. So please, try not to get sick. When it rains it’s pretty cool because you can feel the raindrops fall on your face, and watch puddles get bigger. You can sometimes see worms come out of the ground or on the sidewalk. I think my favorite part about the rain is splashing in the puddles. The are giant puddles that get you all wet and there are puddles that only get the bottom of your shoes wet. But I love all the

From the title “Hunters in the Snow” readers can assume that the story will take place in a cold and snowy area; maybe in the woods because they are hunters. When it is cold and snowy in most places it means that it is winter. Winter has a meaning deeper than just being a season. It stands for death and resentment which plays a great role in this short story. Death is prevalent in this story; Kenny kills a dog then threatens to kill Tub.…

I think driving in the winter driving is very different from summer driving. A different set of driving skills is required in the winter because of extreme weather conditions. Winter is the hardest season for drivers to drive in and the summer is the easiest. At least this is my opinion. While there are many differences, there are also many similarities.…

The issue of declawing is being made more obvious to the horrors it can cause to your beloved feline friend. When an onychectomy, otherwise known as a declaw, is performed it is equal to cutting off your finger at the first knuckle. The bone of the third phalanx is removed, it is not just cutting the nail off. Cat's nails retract, by cutting into these muscles and tendons you risk serious long-term physical and emotional impacts. 61 of 163 cats experienced chronic pain for 1-42 days after the surgery ("American Veterinary Medical Association", 2016).…

Despite the new outburst of year-round schooling across the nation, I have the firm belief that we should retain the traditional system. Most schools who have switched to the year round calendar switched back to the traditional one because the anticipated instructional advantages haven’t materialized. In some cases, it even results in a drop of one to two percentile points in national rank for reading, math, and language scores, compared to a traditional calendar. It is not a good idea to keep making this change.…

Rain is much more than weather in literature. In Julia Alvarez’s In the Time of the Butterflies, rain is used to symbolize a time of trouble and confusion that has washed over the country, but the destructive element of the weather is also used to symbolize the new start that is to come for the Dominican Republic. In Minerva’s chapter six, a large section of the chapter is titled “Rainy Spell.” When Minerva says “The rain comes down all morning, beating against the shutters, blurring the sounds inside the house.…
