Changing School Starting Times When schools have delayed the start of the school day, communities have seen reduced tardiness, sleeping in class, and car crash rates, as well as improved attendance, graduation rates, and standard test scores. Some schools start their school day at ridiculously early hours and not only do the students hate it, but it is extremely unhealthy for them as well. Schools should delay their starting time to at least 9am rather than 7am. This will cause a skyrocketing increase in the student production because they are not sleep deprived. Students will also be able to get their daily morning nutrition because they have more time to actually sit down and have a nutritious breakfast. Also, safety is a very important factor in young adults' lives. Kids are out walking and driving to school in the dark for most of the school year in most communities, with few adults around they are very much at risk.

While many people would prefer that students should start school at the crack of dawn to get the most out of their day, however, students could still get the most out of their day with a little more hours of sleep. Not only is

Students will not be sleep deprived waking up at 7am, and they will focus and pay attention in class. People also complain about not getting to have breakfast in the morning, because they are always running late. Well if school starting times were altered then people will not complain, and they will actually have breakfast and be filled with energy. Also, a very important point in this issue is that kids and teens and walking and driving to school. They are more prone to risk because they are doing so in the dark streets with a lack of adult supervision.
