Persuasive Essay: Why Are Guns Are Good?

Improved Essays
Someone has just broke into your house and they are armed, are you? Personally I would like to be armed in this situation so I could protect myself. This is one of the reasons that make me feel that guns are good. Guns can be used in many ways but I have chosen three. They are good because we can use them for entertainment, hunting, and protection. These are all very good reasons of why guns are good and why you should own one. Some people think guns should be banned completely but hopefully after this speech you are not one of those people. So how bout we get to how guns can be used for entertainment. Guns have many uses of entertainment but when I think of it only a few pop into my mind. These are rifles shotguns and pistols. Rifle shooting …show more content…
You can use rifles for long-range competitions to better your accuracy at long ranges or they can be used to compete against other marksmen. Rifles are probably the safest and most fun way to blow stuff up with Tannerite. For all of you who do not know what Tannerite is, it is a mixture of chemicals that explodes when hit with an object at great speed. This is fun because you just place the Tannerite in the object you would like to blow up and shoot at it from a safe distance. It is entertaining and a good way to blow things clean out of existence. Another way to entertain you with a rifle is to set up still targets in different spots and set up moving targets to become even more skilled at as marksmen. The last use for entertainment of rifles that pops into my mind is precision shooting. According to the national shooting sports foundation Sabrina Siddiqui said precision shooting has been around since the early 17th century and has become more advanced every since then. Precision shooting is when a marksman goes head to head with another marksmen in a timed challenge to see who can hit the target the most and scores the most points. Without guns, hunting we would not be where we are today. Hunting has always been a source of food and will always be a source of food even a hundred years from now. A type of food that hunting has given us is meat. Dried meat smoked grilled or even raw if you like it that way. Meat is very important to human life because it provides us with key nutrients we need to live. Hunting these animals for these types of food also keep the animal population down. If we didn’t have guns, we would not be on top of the food chain and the world would be over run with animals. So this is another reason guns help keep control of population levels. The last way guns are good for hunting is for sport and trophy. Sport and trophy hunting has been around since the beginning of guns. Do you want to go out and kill a deer with a spear?? I wouldn’t either; this is why guns are good for trophy hunts. All you have to do is go out and track that animal down for a couple of days and when you finally see it you can easily take a shot at it from a safe distance and you have your trophy, the 10 by 10 everyone has been talking about for 3 years. The other reason for sport hunting is bragging rights. Since you shot the biggest buck in town you can brag about it for a long time to all your friends until they shoot one bigger than you. But don’t get ahead of yourself

If you didn’t know this already, guns are not the only weapon you can hunt deer with! Just because the masses may take to the field on opening day of gun season in November, it doesn’t mean the woods will be standing room only come September 1st. Archery hunters on public lands are only a fraction of rifle hunters that hunt public land. In many states archery hunters have two full months of hunting free of gun hunters. This is a perfect opportunity to get in the woods and tag an early season whitetail.…

They can notice if its not firing correctly, if its not properly cleaned and if the sights of the rifle are not accurate. It is not easy work to maintain your gun properly. Guns can also be used at farms to slaughter the livestock in order to put food on the table. In this instance, it is not that people particularly enjoy killing something for the sake of killing something but they are doing it because it is necessary for the livelihood of humanity. I would rather work for my food and enjoy the outdoors rather then raise animals in large quantities, in confined spaces and killing them for food without giving them a chance to live their own lives.…

The long season for bow hunting makes rifle hunters more interested in switching to bow or hunting with rifle and bow, to have a long and joyful hunting season. Hunting by bow takes more concentration, control, and more dedication than rifle. Rifle hunters can walk out and kill a deer within minutes due to the range, while a bow kill can take several months to several hunting seasons to get the deer you thrive to get. Since bow hunting is so challenging it makes you respect the deer and enjoy being in the woods to cherish the animal in its natural habitat with no interruptions. Most days, you will not kill a deer, but, it will still be an amazing hunt just watching the beautiful…

Introduction: Hunting is a past time enjoyed by friends and family. Hunting gives people, a sense of adventure, accomplishment, fun and bonding; however, does hunting question the morality of how humans treat the lives of other living species? Should hunting animals be put to a stop for the brutality of the nature or be continued for the better and inevitable death of the animals? Kelley & Rule (2013) talk about how hunters use two types of patterns. The two different patterns are love and kill.…

Hunters want there to be more land; more land means more animals, and more food sources for the animals to be strong and healthy. Chau also says that populations are “self-regulating” and shelters, food sources, and diseases will kill the animals, therefore he is saying it is better that the animals suffer from starvation and sickness, and a lack of shelter, rather than being harvested by a hunter. It is not like hunters waste them away, they use them as a food source as well.…
