Sports, at their core, are naturally violent. They tend to take the anger and frustrations of being a young adult and transfers that into good, clean fun. However there may be a reason as to why high school sports, in general, may be more violent than intended. High school sports are violent due to the competitive nature of them, the passion kids have to win, and also the influence of physicality through the coach.
Sports have always brought out the competitive side to people. “[People believe] it's part of the spirit of competition, adrenaline is running, and they are battling it out on the court.” -Katherine Redmond Brown. Now, not all sports are violent but the physical nature of a sport doesn't really matter when talking about teens whose sole desire is to win. These kids are playing tougher, harder, and faster to get these wins. In turn bringing injuries and violence to an unforeseen high.

If you can't motivate and encourage your team in positive ways then you just aren't cut out to be a coach. A player has to trust their coach at all times. Coaches then have to lead his players in the right direction. When a coach is telling you to do something, it's human nature to just blindly listen to him. And that can sometimes get people hurt.
