Smoking A Cigarette Analysis

How can one product take away all of the stress from the day? How can this same product be healthy at all? The answer to the latter is: it’s not. To some smokers, smoking a cigarette can be the most relaxing thing they do all day. Some smokers have reported that just one cigarette takes away their stress and leaves them feeling great. However, this is not the whole story. Smoking even one cigarette is more harmful for the body than anyone ever realizes. The first time a person smokes a cigarette, it can be painful. There have been some people that say smoking burns their throat and their chest the first few times they smoke. I have even heard someone say it gave them a headache. This made me think, what about that would ever entice someone to smoke again? I talked to a few other smokers and they agreed with these feelings, but they also said it felt good. I was worried he could have any of the ones listed above, and sadly my worries proved to be justified. This past March my grandpa passed away with COPD—chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. This was the most terrifying process to go through. He battled with COPD for thirteen months before he couldn’t fight any longer and passed away. My grandpa could have had COPD longer than we knew due to the symptoms being mistaken as a normal part of aging. He often coughed, was out of breath, and wheezed but everyone in my family thought it was the effects of smoking mixed with old age. It has been proven that COPD millions of people in the United States with over half of those people not even being aware they have it. There is unfortunately no treatment for COPD. My grandpa’s story is just one of many that have been affected by smoking. There are many commonly known side effects of smoking, but there are also less common side effects. Be sure to inform anyone who is thinking about smoking of all the harmful
