Persuasive Essay: The Benefits Of Skiing

Decent Essays
Skiing is a great way to exercise, yet have fun. I ski because I like the feeling of going really fast down a steep snow covered hill and catching really big air. I like any type of skiing, downhill, cross country, even backcountry. I love the feeling I get when I am in the air for a long time. I also like the vibe that a ski resort gives off. There are the ski bums(that are there everyday), the crazy ski team kids that send it off anything, and the first timers, everyone is having fun. I like to build jumps into powder fields, and hit the big park jumps. Pretty much, I like to be in the air. The feeling that I get when I am in the air for more than two seconds is awesome, and priceless. When I am skiing with my friends, we always push each other to go bigger or try something new. Most of the time, we go very fast to get to the terrain park, then hit everything in the park, and do it again! …show more content…
Snowboarding is fairly simple, point it one direction and go. On skis, you have to control both skis and stay balanced. Snowboarding is very similar to other sports, such as, skateboarding, surfing, and wakeboarding. Skiing is one of a kind, you can only really water ski and snow ski, that’s about it. That shows how skiing can give you a unique feeling. Skiing is very important to me and my family. I go crazy when I can’t go skiing. When I see it snowing at school, I want to go skiing that instant. My friends are the same way, so we control each other when that happens. Most people are that way when it comes down to snow. Skiing is an awesome sport that everyone should try at least once in their

I am a melting pot that takes these ideas and turns them into one unique view of the world, my view. One thing that I have observed from my many years of skiing is that bowing to fear is not the way I want to live. I learned this when I had a massive face plant that bloodied my face, broke both my helmet and my goggles, gave me a concussion, and forced my lower lip to inflate to the size of a cocktail wiener. I only remember coming back to full consciousness in the ski patrol hut seeing my normally khaki colored glove now dripping a scarlet red, and a patrolman, who was not the nicest person in the world, continuously nagging “You were skiing out of bounds, I should pull your pass.” On the trip to the hospital my friend Tommy told me that in my dazed condition I was concerned about one thing, what day it was.…

PEDs From very early on, athletes have found ways of getting a step ahead of the rest by a vast range of procedures, legal and illegal, safe and dangerous, ethical and non-ethical. The first Olympians were no different; the origins of enhancing performance can be traced back to athletes eating specially prepared lizard meat, thought to give them a slight advantage to the rest. Naturally every athlete would like to perform at a higher level than everyone else, but many of the methods for becoming the best have been questioned and regulated for years. Both sides of this debate, for and against therefore mentioned regulations, have their strong points and hold very strongly in the public’s eyes.…
