It is against The University of Illinois campus law to possess or store any weapon that could do bodily harm to someone. It does not matter how deadly the object may be, it can range from a hand gun to a simple sling shot, if you are carrying any weapon on University of Illinois’s campus, you are breaking the law. The ban on weapons here at Illinois effects all students and staff because no one would know who had a weapon and everyone would be afraid to say something wrong and set someone off. That is why this his policy is tremendous, because all students should feel safe while going to class or going out and the Universities ban on weapons is an essential because it ensures safety and allows for a fear free environment to prosper. The ban on firearms and all other types of weapons is a controversial one, many colleges are going through fights to either prevent a concealed carry law to be passed on their campus or they are trying to enact one. So I think that if the University of Illinois were to allow this policy, everything would go haywire. One problem I think would arise is the fact that if I was in a classroom full of strangers and you knew that some of them might have a gun on them, I for one would not want to speak my mind fully in the chance that I upset and provoke someone. Along with that, a big part of college is the night life. There is no hiding that people go out and drink at night. Drinking alcohol is dangerous enough by itself, but when you add a weapon to the mix, you have just created a whole new cocktail. Those drunken bar fights might turn into gunfire and may even result in the death of a student or resident of
