All of the United States students prepare themselves for the scholastic aptitude test that can alter your life. It may sound dramatic, but in truth it can. The SATs determine if colleges accept a student. Understandably it is a well-known and respectable tool for determining a student’s eligibility. However, judging if a student is a perfect candidate based mainly on their scores is an outrageous concept. In that case the SAT should be completely eliminated since some students are not good test takers and the test is not broad enough to properly assess intelligence.
Completely ridding the SATs as an element of being entered into a college or university should be enacted, because the SATs can be argued as being bias due to many students performing differently on tests for various reasons. Some students are naturally great …show more content…
In Donna Westlund's article “Changes to SAT Test Not Enough, It Should Be Eliminated”, he speaks about the history of the SATs in the late 1920s including how it was first introduced as a method of finding "a diamond in the ruff" or a series of diverse students to shine above the rest. It was a way for students to obtain scholarships and be able to attend their dream school regardless of their financial situation, but now the test has been forced upon students to take without option. It's mandatory in being able to get into any college. Eliminating the SATs would allow student's academics to flourish as the forefront of being chosen by a college. Of course many may worry that if the SATs were to be eradicated, many students with difficult, financial backgrounds would lose a source of entrance into school.
