You also can not ask them how they are feeling about their feelings towards things. On another note, it takes too much work when trying to deal with testing dogs. You have to more than likely sedate them in order to get them to cooperate during studies. But, a sedated dog will not give you accurate results, and this becomes an issue. Granting them personhood would also leave more responsibility to pet owners. If your neighbor thinks that you are mistreating your pet, they could easily get the law involved which may result in a fine of some sort. For example, the neighbor may think that you are not nourishing your pet the right way and the pet could get taken away from you as if they are a mistreated child. And that is just way too much for an animal (Shea).

But all of a sudden (suddenly), people started treating the animals more like pets. If a dog is supposed to help a person hunt, they should not need personhood granted to them. The reason that dogs helped hunt is because, their senses are stronger than a human's senses, so they are able to sniff out what a person may be hunting
