Say NO to diets!

There is a reason why everyone despites the word diet. Let’s face it, a diet sounds like an extreme regime full of limitations and not even a sip of fun. There are endless myths about any kind of diets, but none of them seem to be ¨the magic solution¨or the ¨the best way¨to get the results we want.

What about if I tell you that you won’t have to do a diet for the rest of your life? It really sounds amazing, doesn’t it? Best part is I’m not lying, you won’t have to keep yourself away from the foods you love or spend endless hours without grabbing a bite. A balanced diet goes beyond the restrictions, it is a fundamental part of a healthy routine.

There are plenty of ways to serve your veggies, however, it is recommended to to use low fat cooking methods such as steaming.

5. Grains
This food category includes bread, cereals, pasta and rice. Go for whole-grain varieties as these are higher in fibre and contain vitamin B.They are way healthier than white versions.
Avoid sugary or toasted breakfast cereals and sweetened breads made with refined flour. These are higher in calories and fat and contain less fibre.

6. Fats and oils
It is important to take the right kind of fats. Avoid saturated and trans fats as these are unhealthy for the heart. A good replacement would be vegetable fats such as canola, olive, or sunflower oil. All fats contain a high amount of calories, so if you want to lose those extra pounds,it is important to keep added fats to a minimum. Some healthy options include nuts, avocado and fish.

By including these 6 food categories in your balanced diet you won’t be restricting yourself or starve to death. The key is to see it as a healthy lifestyle, it not all about the food, but also about your daily habits. A perfect combination would be a balanced diet along with a nice workout routine.
