Euthanasia is what is sometimes called the “good death”. It is the legal killing of someone who is terminally ill with the help of medical professionals. It is currently illegal all over the United States but there is something similar known as Physician aid in dying or assisted suicide that is only legal in 8 states. Assisted suicide is different from euthanasia in the sense that in assisted suicide, the patients administer the drugs themselves; instead of euthanasia where the physician does it for them. There is a debate going on whether it should be legalized all over the country or if it should be repealed from the states that do allow it.
There are two types of euthanasia that are widely accepted as concepts and they are “active or passive” euthanasia. Active euthanasia is when the medical professional administers drugs that can end the life of the person who is terminally ill and suffering. On the other hand, passive euthanasia is killing someone by withdrawing or not providing any medical help. I think that morally both are same and if it were up to me I would think that active euthanasia should be legal and used instead of passive euthanasia because it can decrease suffering instead of taking away the help …show more content…

While it is a highly debatable topic that mental health and suffering can be just as bad as physical suffering, I believe that euthanasia should only be used in cases of extreme physical suffering only where the ultimate result without euthanasia would lead in death. This is because there is a lot of help available that can help eliminate or control mental suffering but no cure for terminally ill
