Many kids have spent many lonely nights inside, bored out of their minds, nothing to do. Why must they spend the rest of your night inside, especially when all of their friends are out having fun? Having a curfew can and must be pretty frustrating. No curfew can be better for the children and their parents, and adults can be just as bad a juvenile delinquents. First off, not many kids or teenagers think they should have a curfew. They think that a curfew is taking a good amount of their freedom. They also agree that adults are no different. There are plenty of crooks and drug dealers that cause trouble to kids and other adults as well. But what about the kids that don't do things like that? If adults were treated the same way as children and teens, they wouldn't be too happy either. They have jobs to go to. So, getting rid of the curfew all together would benefit everyone. Now, having no curfew can also have benefits for the parents as well as the children. Say a child is old enough to drive, and they're generally responsible for what they do. But one night, they forget about the government curfew that had been set, and they realize the needed to be home in ten minutes. They're twenty minutes away, and they push the pedal to …show more content…
What if they get into things they shouldn't? Children in this generation are more likely to have friends around in the first place. Parents might want their children home by a certain time, and one by one, everyone is going to leave, and no child likes being alone. So they would go home, and behave like they should, because they got to do what they wanted. A curfew shouldn't exist, as it's been clearly been explained. It causes problems for children and adults alike, and it's just not fair. Children and teens don't always cause trouble, and when they do, it's because they're bored. But that can always be easily fixed by getting rid of the government

    v. State of Florida. I chose to go with the minority opinion, there are many reasons as to why a minor would be out past 11 p.m. From many past experiences, I can recall times when I had to errands. There are many reasons as to why a minor would be out during that time, such as family emergency, last minute errands, or even school projects with a friend. A curfew time should not be set by the law; this is more of a personal family problem that each family can solve by themselves. I believe that a curfew should be set by the guardian of the…

When looking at curfews, there is a constant debate on whether there should be one or not. In the novel The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, there are two social groups. The Greasers and their rivals, the Socs. In the article “Are Public Curfews Fair?” it talks about the reasons why and why not a curfew is essential.…

Nora Gold states that curfew laws take away some of the civil rights that teens and young adults have as Americans. Gold states in her essay, “The most obvious constitutional problem is that curfews grant police the power to detain citizens for nothing more than appearing young.” This quote is stating that curfew laws punish anyone who is out after a certain time just because they look young. This also gets in the way of teens who work night shifts for their job or even just being outside their house on the sidewalk (Gold, Nd). Another thing that curfew laws violate are some rights that the teens have from the first amendment, which are not allowing them to go to religious services and even meeting for school that take place at night (Gold,…

Despite this split, most (63%) violent crimes committed by juveniles occur on school days. Nearly one-fifth (19%) of juvenile violent crimes occur in the 4 hours between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on school days. A smaller proportion of juvenile violent crime (15%) occurs during the standard juvenile curfew hours of 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. (inclusive of both school and non-school days). The annual number of hours in the curfew period (i.e., 8 hours every day in the year) is 4 times greater than the number of hours in the 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. period on school days (i.e., 4 hours in half of the days in the year). Therefore, the rate of juvenile violence in the afterschool period is 5 times the rate in the juvenile curfew period (inclusive of both school and non-school days).…

Today more and more citizens are becoming careless when it comes to the law. They think it is some silly rule that they do not need to follow. Frank Trippett in this excerpt from “A Red Light for Scofflaws” argues that Americans are used to thinking that the law-and-order is threatened mainly by violent crime and if little laws like littering speeding or noise pollution are a big deal or not. He explains how people seem to think you are a fool if you obey the rules. All laws are laws and they are made for a reason.…

The more parents tell their kids to come home a certain time, the more they’re not going to want to. Studies have shown that if curfews are placed in order that they lessen juvenile crime, even though teens want to show independence and rebel against what they are told to do by authority by police and parental guidances. When curfews are not emplaced crime goes up because teens are messing around. “Non-curfew crimes increased by 53% during the school year, but over the summer break crime went down by 12%. In Chicago when kids have curfews crime drops by 6% with curfews in place,”(¨Curfews Don't Keep Kids out of Trouble¨).…

Even though students have the right to express their own opinions, it is necessary to have limitations in order to avoid chaos within the student body. I know the school was acting in a way of protecting its students and the majority. Yes the newspapers are a public expression but the school’s faculty has every right to change what is in the newspapers.…

Having said that, Teens shouldn’t be given a curfew unless their parents decide to. If a parent doesn’t give them a curfew and the teen goes out seeking trouble, then the teen should be punished if he/ she is caught. When a teen goes out and makes a bad decision both them and the parent should be punished because they knew what they were up against. If they are going disobey the curfew and be out late they should have someone with them that way their chances of running up on a predator would be slimmer to none. Although the curfew would not seem fair to some but at the end of the day it keeps them out of trouble. You never know what your child could be getting into after hours. They could possibly be out with a rough crowd experimenting with bad things and that could lead them down the wrong path. He or she could be at home focusing on school work or studying for a test then being out and about real late at night.…

A curfew simply decreases the time period and makes teenagers get done what they have to do in a shorter period of time. Teenagers aren't looking for trouble while they are out late at night, they are looking for entertainment and something to do. Rather than installing a curfew for teenagers, it is a better idea to not let teenagers into some places and adding an age limit unless they are accompanied by an adult. A curfew is again an unnecessary restriction on people's lives. Government cannot control all aspects of someone's life.…
