By replacing the text with “Everyone wants to be a hero”, Coke transformed a scary costume into the much more positive idea of superheroes. Although the positive feeling of superheroes contrast the negative tone given off from the background, the ad employs some thoughtful persuasion. A cape is one aspect of a selfless superhero whose goal is to save the world and by suggesting that the Pepsi can wants to be a “Coke Superhero”, Coca Cola implies that Coke is the superior brand that is more favorable over just another normal can of soda.
Overall, Pepsi creates a quite creative and spooky ad that later sparks a ridiculing retaliation from Coke. Although Coca Cola does not benefit from the now, out of context setting, the brand creates a creative and witty ad that wins over many consumers. In their own way, the Pepsi franchise masterfully combines light and color contrast with a meaningful symbol to form a strong and cohesive Halloween ad for Pepsi products.
