Schools that are in session year-round have become more common over the years. Many people think year-round schooling allows no breaks for their students; however, that is not the case. There are two types of year-round schooling: single track and multiple track. Single track is a year-round system in which all students and staff are on the same schedule. Whereas; with multiple track, the students are broken into groups with one on vacation and the other attending school. The groups of students rotate, but the staff is continuously teaching. Schools should adopt a year-round educational system, because the longer, more frequent breaks allow for schools to see a noticeable change in the attitude and attendance of their staff and students. Students are not supposed to go through school and act as if they are already adults and take on responsibilities in which they are not prepared for, however being exposed to such events will only benefit students after school. Not all jobs are going to allow employees a three month summer break. So, a way of preparing students for the real world in which they will not be allowed a three month break, is by having a school in session year-round. Most jobs are year-round, so having students attend school year-round is better preparing them for their future. Year-round school systems still allow students to get the breaks that are needed for students to grow and mature, but also gives students a little insight to the scheduling of jobs outside of school. This allows the students to have fun throughout the twelve years of school but also allows students unknowingly become prepared for what most students’ futures will …show more content…
However, there are plenty of opportunities throughout the course of the year for vacations along with no family time taken away. Not only that, but the possibility of a year-round system not being offered district-wide can make it harder for parents to balance different schedules for their kids (“Year Round Schools: In Brief” 9).
