In this editorial assignment I will be selecting an issue that is important to me and also you. My topic I will be talking about my opinion of the question should school be year-round? This question could be at debate because there are many good outcomes for going to school all year round. Year round schooling can be disruptive to both the family of the students and the teachers also, it can cost too much for a large group of people, and year round schools do not provide the same opportunity for learning as the regular school year does. School being all year round could affect the work efforts just because student may feel that they don’t get as much free time as there would be if it was weekly. If we were to change they schooling process it would make it more difficult to be able to stay on task and for the teachers it would also make it harder to be able to stay up on work and grading’s. …show more content…
Students need a break from all the stress about test and quiz’s, and homework and studying because that stress would make it harder to focus when it comes to the test or quizzes or even homework. Year round school makes it harder for high school students to get summer jobs which is not good because the high school year normally junior or senior year is when students begin to get apartments and cars but if school become year round it would be impossible to that because of that fact that all of their time is being spent on school. Education is the fundamental key to our everyday lives. Knowledge is what keeps our economic growth

A form of schooling introduced in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s was a year round school system (Pedersen, "The History of School and Summer Vacation"). Research from all the way back to a hundred years ago has shown that students tend to lose information and their footing during a traditional summer vacation (Fairchild, "Why and how communities should focus on summer learning."). Teachers can slow their speed and actually teach students everything they need to know not just what they need for a test, which seems to be regular in many schools. Students will not forget the education that was taught, for they will not have summer vacation time to forget about school and what they learned from it. Cooper had done experiments on children loosing education while on summer break and his results are stunning, and cooper commented that “most students lose about two months of grade level equivalency in mathematical computation skills over the summer months”…
