Dear, State Legislature

This is how I feel about year-Round schooling. I do NOT agree with year round schooling for these reasons. Kids works during the summer and jobs wouldn’t want people going for three weeks at a time. We The People need a break from other students and teacher and we get that during the 3 months. The last one is for me and other kids who race during the summer. So, no I don’t agree with year-round schooling.

My number one reason is because Kids work in the summer and they make their money weekly. They can’t do if we have year-round schooling because they will not make the money they make in the summer in that three weeks we have off for break. I myself would much rather make money during the whole summer not just three

Should we have year-round school? Year-round school should be implemented in our school district. Three main reasons why I think there should be year round school is that, for one, it would help prevent long breaks that could potentially weaken students academically, and after the break, it would take a while to review. Secondly, the 9 month calendar we currently use was originally made based around when kids would go home and work on farms, but now, this isn’t a common practice. Lastly, teachers and students would benefit mentally from breaks spread out all throughout the year.…

Schools in America will spend up to 30% of their budget to provide transportation for their students. In the long run, this money could be put to better use by paying teachers a better salary. However, a year-round calendar would provide students with more learning opportunities, and would not have to catch up on work. Students that are dedicated at having a good education and excel in school wouldn't mind having school year round. With a year long calendar, students wouldn't forget everything they learned the previous year, and wouldn't have to review once they get back from vacation.…

The Benefits Year-Round Schooling Since the beginning of time, teaching and learning has been a detrimental part of what makes us able to innovate and experience the world around us. A form of schooling introduced in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s was a year round school system (Pedersen, "The History of School and Summer Vacation"). This system allowed for more days within the learning period and allotted for students to get more out of their education. Research from all the way back to a hundred years ago has shown that students tend to lose information and their footing during a traditional summer vacation (Fairchild, "Why and how communities should focus on summer learning."). The current system most public schools within the…

School systems have always encountered trouble deciding whether or not to use a year-round education program. There have been studies on the effectiveness on this teaching schedule and most of the results are positive. However, students will still have time to rest and relax on the shorter breaks scattered throughout the year. One such study by Ballinger (1987) agrees that “students learn best by a continuous pattern of teaching, practice, reteaching, and more practice, until they finally grasp the concepts being taught”…
