Picture in your mind a hardworking woman, we’ll call her Sara, and a hardworking man, we’ll call him John, Sara and John both wake up at the same time, go to the same office, do the same work, and share the same hours. The only difference between these two, is that while John makes 100% of his paycheck, Sara will only make around 79%. This is actually a statistic for full-time working women in the United States as of Fall 2015. The biggest issue here isn’t a loss of 21%, but gender equality, also known as feminism, the theory of gender equality on social, political, and economical levels. We need to be a feminist nation, truly believing in equality and acting upon it. By no means is it my intent to preach that women are more important than men, but they should be equal, right? Statistics from Catalyst, show that in order to catch up to a man’s paycheck, a woman would have to work seventy additional days a year. The average full-time working female will lose over 460,000 dollars over a forty year period in the gender wage gap. So this question needs to be answered, why are women paid less? They certainly aren't worth 79% of a man.
Most would agree that “equal pay for equal work”, is fair statement, it makes sense. A woman shouldn't be denied her hard-earned 21% simply because of her gender. Maybe it’s a surprise to some

It’s 2015 and we haven't even broken the political gender barriers yet! Another great woman, Susan B. Anthony, had to fight for female rights to vote, it sounds crazy to me, that we had to fight to prove our worthiness of a say in how our own country is run, while men were simply handed the golden ticket, and told they were more important.
