Wind is a form of solar energy that is caused by many different attributes of the earth and atmosphere. These attributes include the sun’s uneven heating of the atmosphere, fluctuations in the earth’s surface, and the rotation of the earth. In its simplest terms, wind turbines work the opposite of a fan. A wind turbine is created for the purpose of turning wind energy, …show more content…
This wind farm was established in 1993, and is still operating today. The small towns and communities where wind energy is generated are greatly affected in an economic sense. The tax revenues will increase, giving our government the income it has previously received from oil and gas. The corporations creating the turbines will receive land from local farmers, and in return the farmers will receive a compensation for land damage, and an annual income. Many jobs will be provided to municipal areas. A report by Blue Green Canada More Bank for Our Buck found that the $1.3 billion in taxpayer subsidies that the federal government provides to the oil industry, if were to be invested in renewable energy, could create 18 000-20 000 jobs. Whereas the same amount of money invested in oil and gas provides less than 3000 jobs. Wind energy can also prove to be more appealing than oil in the way that a stable electricity price is created, versus with oil and gas the prices are always fluctuating with supply and …show more content…
Between 1990 and 2013, the total greenhouse gas emissions in Canada rose by 18%. This increase had been fundamentally caused by the increased emissions of oil and coal. By constructing wind turbines and switching from oil and coal to wind energy to power Alberta’s economic stance, many of these environmental concerns can be resolved. Wind farms require no fuel to operate, and produce very little waste. Because there is very little waste being produced, this will help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. These wind turbines also cause absolutely no contamination to water sources. This will be allowing for our near future to keep a healthier planet, and will greatly impact the distant future by keeping our environment
