On the other hand, let’s take a moment and think about an alternative universe where you can drop out of school anytime and any day without a law going against you. Meaning no school for anyone who wants to just want to quit going from elementary to high school. It’s how we live and it keeps the world/society moving without trouble creating a good balance. No matter how stupid or useless you think a rule might be, it’s there for a reason which is to protect. For example laws about speed limits is there to stop cars from crashing. Laws about murder and robbery is to protect and prevent the innocent people in the world. Laws about taxes is to keep our economy going and help America. So what’s the difference between those laws and education laws? Education laws also serve a huge purpose for America and its future. The kids you see now will be America’s future workers and politicians later on. They will run America, so of course they need one thing to make it successful and not make the economy collapse- education. So when Roger Sipher said “The solution to this problem is simple: Abolish compulsory-attendance laws and allow only those who are committed to getting an education to attend” in order to increase our test scored and not put America’s education in trouble, didn’t quite make sense to

One reason we should use this law is so that we can motivate kids to try harder and pay more attention in their classes. In Kentucky this law did not only help motivate the kids to try harder, it also made the teachers try to support the kids more. The author of “No Pass/No Drive” said “Other research has found that when ‘no pass/no drive’ rules exist, school staff members pay closer attention to students who may be at risk of dropping out, and try to help them earlier” (6). This could be caused by the students willingness and ambition to learn. If both the student and teacher is trying to succeed and get better it will cause positive change in the student’s grades.…

It has been proved time and time again, that students are happier when they get the opportunity of having a summer break. Without a summer break students don't perform the best of their ability. The school calendar should not run year-round because students perform better, and extra costs are avoided, however students would have more learning opportunities. Have you ever not finished your homework and need more time at school that’s what study hall would do for us kids? Currently in Foley Intermediate school, we have no study hall for seventh and eighth graders because of this we need to take an elective that we don't enjoy. The rule is we must take seven classes and at least one of them has to be an art or a music class. If we add this elective we would need to have supervisors with us in this class and we would need to have a place to have study hall. Such as a room or even the cafeteria.…

Have you ever walked into school on the first day of the year, or back from a long break, and realized you don’t remember anything you learned? Many students, myself included, experience this problem often. Most teenagers spend their breaks from school watching television, playing video games, and doing pretty much anything that isn’t studying or school related, causing them to forget most of what they learned at school. One solution to this problem would be to have students attend school year-round with various, shorter breaks throughout the year. Students should attend school year round because they could be taught more information, their grades could improve, and it keeps them on a routine.…

Having teenagers whom do not want to learn, or have other things aside from school to do daily makes them less sufficient learners, and can be a risk in a classroom environment. “We cannot warehouse these kids until they turn 18” once stated by Governor Boshear. In other words, Boshear believes that raising the dropout age of high school is inadequate. Still all in all this argument is invalid because students will learn social skills, and can possibly change their attitude towards learning and staying in school, schools must be willing to engage. High Schools have classes that help a student and counselors to find the students right path and make them feel comfortable.…
