Have you ever received a trophy, but realized you didn’t do much to deserve it? Well, many kids have a variety of trophies in their room, but most of the trophies were given when the children didn’t do anything to earn it. All kids shouldn't get a trophy because it teaches life skills, children can work hard to show the coach they want one, and kids could be able to build their self-esteem on their own.

First of all, some people think that, kids should always get a little something for showing up, but others believe that coaches should show their players that in life they won’t win all the time and they need to learn to lose. “Children are not fragile. They are amazing, bright, and capable and with our help they can develop the kind of internal fortitude they need to not only survive, but also thrive in life. Call me hard-hearted, or tell me I expect too much from children, but I have seen time and time again what children can do if we get out of their way, untie those velvet ropes holding their wings down, and let them soar.,”(Why Everyone Shouldn’t Get a Trophy). “A student doesn’t get an A just for going to class. An employee doesn’t get a raise just arriving to work on time. Shouldn’t only the hardest-working or highest-performing athletes get the accolades?”,(Tarshis 27). This is important because, when the children get old enough when college scouts watch how they do, the kids are going to have to show the scouts that they really put in effort, even if they lose.
