I will torture you if I have to. Throughout human history, human always tortured each other. As long as torture is one of the most efficient, convenient and reliable way, there will be tortures in the future no matter how ethics and moral develops. For those who think torture is barbaric, and must not be acceptable, next few paragraphs will clearly show why torture must be acceptable. Torture is one of the easiest, convenient and fastest ways to get Intel. Torture existed even before thousands years ago. Let’s assume your family got kidnapped and might be dead in next 48 hours. By looking at CCTV, you noticed there were 2 guys kidnapping your family and you recognized one guy who is your co-worker. You directly went to him and tried to persuade to help to find your family but he denied. Clocks are ticking, and there is less and less time for your family to breathe on earth. Would you be thinking about ethics and moral and human’s right when this situation came to you? As many movies proves, most of people will try to do whatever they can do to find their family rather than giving up and saying even though this guy will end up killing my family, I would not torture him because of my moral and ethics.
Nations stand for protecting their own citizen. According to CNN, Mexican federal police tortured 5 people to get confess that they killed an officer and participated in a car bomb attack. People pay taxes to the government so it can protect them from any sort of crime and discomfort. For nations, it is their duty to protect their own citizens. Just like Mexican federal police, if the government realized terrorist or criminals attempting to give harm on their citizen, nations must do their best to prevent bad things happens even it means torturing criminals to know what their plan
