Receiving this scholarship would help me in more ways than one. This scholarship would help my family and I pay for the expenses of my books and my tuition, this way I would not be stressed during my studies of how I will be able to pay for all of my schooling. Any form of money that I can receive will be significantly beneficial. Being a recipient I would use this money to put towards my degree in Occupational Therapy, where I will be helping kids with disabilities learn the basic day to day living skills. After graduation, I will be attending East Central College to get my general courses out of the way, while taking classes that will help me in my future career.…

Although it is in my character to make the best of a situation, I do not believe that I would have such a great sense of happiness in where my life is headed due to the advantage my scholarship has given me. Often, I remember that I would tell my mother that she should send me to a public school because I didn’t want her to worry about the funds, but she would always remind me of why I had this scholarship and why they gave it to me. This scholarship has awarded me with the opportunity to be apart of the following: Mock Trial, Spanish Club, National Spanish Honor Society, International Thespian Society, Brother Rice Drama Club (BRDC), Unity Community, the Fall Play, the Spring Play, and Costume Crew. By being able to attend Mother McAuley, I have been granted the chance to find out what I love to do, how I excel in certain circumstances, and a better environment than what I originally would have been given. Due to that, my family and I have been more than thankful and appreciative of what possibilities I possess because of the help we have received from Big Shoulders Scholarship, more specifically, Gallagher Scholarship.…

Writing about affordable college was hard, but made simple for me. I Started looking into why we should have affordable college, and then reasons on why we shouldn't. Looking into what is to come if we make all public higher education is affordable for everybody shouldn't be such a hard concept to grasp. When I started my research I was introduced to a man named Bernie Sanders; a man who some would say he is the change America needs, others would say he is destroying the foundations of America that we have been building for years. Either way you look at this controversy I think you should know not only the statistics of free or affordable college, but to enlighten you on why affording college is not a topic you should say yes or no to before you hear the full argument.…
