First of all, homework causes stress on students. We may as well just spend all day at school if we are having school at home anyways. Students should go to school, work on “school” work, then come home and not do “school” work at home. This would increase the productivity and attitudes of students. I, for one, would be in a much better mood concerning school if I knew that I didn’t have to look forward to coming home to more school work.…

If kids didn’t have to worry about getting certain assignments done for the next day, I do agree with Darter that, kids would have more time to be kids. In her article Darter refers to a study done at Duke University. The study showed that “all it does is negatively impact kids’ attitudes towards school, learning, and their parents(the homework enforcers).” This research shows, not proves, that homework does have an effect on studies ability to do well in…

Furthermore the author also suspects that the benefits of homework go even beyond the classroom. The author states “Doing homework helps students learn important skills, such as self-discipline and time management.” This is great evidence proving the authors claim. The author says homework benefits families as well. “A 2007 MetLife survey of teachers, parents, and students across the United States showed that almost 9 in 10 parents said that they helping their children with homework because it gave them time to spend with their children.”…

When kids have mounds and mounds of homework then it doesn't give any time to spend with family. but I personally do not like homework. Also, most of the time, the work is difficult and you barely even touched that topic in class. This can be a problem because some kids get really stressed and they know that the work is due the next day but they can’t finish it. Sometimes, if you are not a fast worker, homework gets in the way of family time and free time. Some families require free time and it is not an option, so some people can’t finish their homework.…

I judge that we can all agree that homework is fairly boring and is not interesting. Students do not want to learn or work on something that doesn’t interest them. Also, they may not understand the concept of the topic, so they find it difficult and confusing. Some students lack time management and may have their priorities mixed up. Both of these flaws can interfere with the organization to do homework.…

Students already spend a third of their day working hard at school, and another third of their day sleeping. They deserve to have the remaining time to enjoy more important things such as time with their families. The most important reason homework for students should be banned is because it interferes with invaluable, quality family time. Many students do not have enough time to have a break let alone time to spend with their families.…

There are so many reasons people are pro homework. People say “it helps them become smarter or helps them on test,” But there is a lack of evidence where it actually supports their claims, that it helps students at all especially at such a young age. with Alfie Khon “The positive effects of homework are largely mythical.”(Khon). It also seems that homework is being forced onto younger students more often than the older ones. I remember getting tons of homework in Elementary school, and not having the time to play outside, the stress, and my parents struggling to help me on problems I didn’t know.…

There are various effective arguments I would make to support students having homework by their teachers. The first argument I would make is that homework helps students to better retain the lessons they’ve learned during the school day. Students need a lot of exercises to do to retain what they learn everyday in school. Since class time isn’t enough to provide a lot of exercises on one subject, homework is the best way to exercise what’s been learned in class. If no homework is given to students on a subject that’s been discussed in class, it’s more likely for them to forget the subject the next day.…

It is also needed in order to meet international education standards. Most commonly, teachers assign homework that is busy work which not very beneficial. It is relatively simple work, but generally very time consuming. This type of work can often have negative effects on children. Rather than taking time to do the mindless homework, students often rush the process causing their likelihood to gain any knowledge from the assignment to dwindle. Furthermore, busy work often tempts students to resort to cheating to get the work done.…
