Research suggests that people understand the benefits of lying at age 3. In that case we have been lying since we were young even if we don’t know. Everyone lies it’s part of human-nature, we lie everyday. According to a study a person lies three times every ten minutes and that's a lot. People lie to look good,but it doesn’t always end well, people start to lose trust. I think we shouldn’t lie because people end up not trusting you anymore. Then why do we lie? “It boils down to the shifting sands of the self and trying to look good both to ourselves and others” experts say. "It's tied in with self-esteem. Even the biggest names in history have lied. For example George Washington and the cherry tree, but that lie didn’t hide something as big as what President Richard Nixon hid. On June 17, 1972, several burglars were arrested inside the office of the Democratic National Committee, located in the Watergate building. The burglars had been caught attempting to wiretap phones and steal secret documents. No one knew if the burglars were part of Nixon’s re-election campaign or not. It became clear when Nixon gave a speech in which he swore that his White House staff was not involved in the break-in. Later, people came to know that Nixon wasn’t being truthful. After the break-in Nixon instructed the CIA to delay the FBI’s investigation of the crime and he decided to pay the burglars to stay quiet,so he could get elected. Since he abused his presidential powers he had to resign. He lied to the people and hid that much just,so he could get what he wanted. At the end he lost. He made himself and America look bad. He wanted one thing,but trying to get that one thing he got many people to lose trust in him and
