Persuasive Essay On Underage Drinking

Underage drinking is a very common problem. Underage drinking has been around for some time and parents are still debating whether or not they should let their kids drink or not. The answer is they shouldn’t. Many adults already let their kids drink in their home, but they don’t know the negative effects on underage drinking. From examining alcohol related accidents, and data from underage drinkers, it is clear that parents shouldn’t allow underage drinking at home. Accidents that result from drinking alcohol show that parents shouldn’t allow their children to drink alcohol. For instance, David S. Anderson states, “While a parent may have the intention of limiting a teenager’s (and his or her friends’) exposure to drunk driving by hosting a party, exposing teenagers to alcohol even in that setting can result in harm, like alcohol poisoning, sexual abuse, violence, drunk driving, and more” (Saying ‘No’ is Not Enough). That even the littlest exposure to alcohol can leave to problems, such as alcohol poisoning, violence, drunk driving, and more instead of keeping them safe. Even with the intention of keeping your kid safe, exposure to alcohol leads to harm. Additionally, James F. However, they are misled because it is actually worse if they are exposed to alcohol at an early age. David J. Hanson says, “Societies that permit parents to serve alcohol to their adolescents tend to have fewer alcohol-related problems” (Permit Drinking with Adult). Societies that have let parents give alcohol to their children tend to have alcohol-related problems. While this may be true, reliable data shows that exposure to alcohol at a young age are 5 times more likely to develop addiction to alcohol and have harm cause to them from alcohol.
