Over the years, Under Armour has made a name for itself among the top sportswear companies around the world. It started in 1996 and rapidly grew into the reliable well-known brand we are familiar with today. Under Armour now makes sportswear for all sports and apparel for casual situations as well. They endorse professional athletes in numerous different sports in order to express their variety of clothing and accessories. Under Armour has also been known for sponsor reality television shows, movies, the Olympics, and universities around the country. Without a doubt, Under Armour is one of the most successful sports wear companies in the country, and some of the credit comes from the way it makes itself known through advertisements. Lately, Under Armour has been producing a series of commercials, with the slogan “Rule yourself,” appealing to male athletes at the high school or collegiate level, or ages fifteen through twenty-two. What catches the attention of this audience? For one, this particular group of athletes is very dedicated and active, so showing off the latest and greatest training gear definitely earns publicity. The hours of hard work that Depay puts himself through “in the dark” is not a means of bouncing back like it was in Michael Phelps case. For Depay, it is to prove people wrong. When the man yells at him while he’s on a walk, he immediately takes the mocking to heart. He now has his inspiration. The only thing he can think about is becoming great to prove the man wrong. This happens to athletes everywhere. Oftentimes, upcoming athletes are mocked and told that they are not talented enough to compete at the next level.
