One solution was to grant amnesty and claiming that the immigration reform legislation would secure the border and strengthen visa security (“Immigration”). Amnesty is an official pardon for people who have been found guilty of a political offense. This will not stop illegal immigration; it will only encourage more as seen from the rising number of immigrants. It could also cost the U.S. trillions of dollars because of the welfare program for these immigrants. In relationship to amnesty, Obama recently called for Republican help to support an immigration bill. However, these Republicans remembered Reagan’s failed Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (“A Reagan Legacy”). This made them approach the bill with caution, remembering how amnesty did not work for the U.S. in 1986. Also, the reason why deportation is not reasonable is because the Administration will pursue two billion dollars in emergency funds from Congress to carry out the deportation (“Immigration”). This will only add to the United States debt. There will probably be a wave of deported immigrants within a short amount of time which means another two billion dollars spent on a solution that didn’t work in the first place. One of the more obvious solutions is border patrol; however that doesn’t seem to stop the ongoing issue of illegal immigration. In order to prevent any more illegal immigration, I have proposed a solution to solve the problem. My proposed solution is to issue and install landmines in the ground where the illegal immigration occurs. This would inevitably reduce the amount of illegal immigrants trying to cross the borders because it would create a life and death situation, no in between. The immigrants would either choose to risk their lives by crossing the border will all the hidden landmines on the ground, or not risk it at all in stay in their home
