Childhood and teenage years, the most impactful years for any youth. This years can be full of mischief and fun, but some adolescents don’t receive the same love and support as others. Why put our future children at the risk of neglect and abuse, when instead we could solve the problem now. At the age of eighteen, citizens would have to get a licenses in order to obtain the right to have and raise children. Forcing any citizen who would want to be a parent to have to be well structured and caring. Raising a child to be successful is the job of their local school district and their parents. It’s a matter of fact that most kids follow in their parents footsteps, rather it be in success or in failure. In The Glass Castle, by Jeannette Walls, Rex and Mary Walls are shown to be bad parents. There is a time in everyone’s life that they look forward to getting their drivers license. If the government could replicate the process of Drivers Ed and taking a test to earn a license, except with using parenting instead of driving. The class would be required to take before doing taking the final test. It would be eight class periods an hour long each, the class would teach the dangers and joy of having children. The government would pay to train high-quality individuals to teach these classes. They would teach the proper technique of simple things such as; child proofing a home, changing diapers, CPR, nutrition and what to do in certain emergencies. The class would over all benefit the safety of families and bring into light the importance of being a parents. Once the classes finish and the man or woman that finished taking passes the test once they turn 18; they would be allowed to conceive a child. The new system would decrease the amount of children who are neglected and abused. It will be one step towards as Ronald Reagan once said to make America great
