The effects of texting while driving are always bad no matter the conditions. In 2011 national data shows cellphones were involving in 350 fatal crashes (Gabrielle Kratsas). That was just 2011 and it’s now 2016 and way more phones made and think how many people text and drive now. According to 1800nowhurt.com NCS estimates that 25% of crashes just involve cellphone use. That’s ¼ of crashes just involving a phone which is scary. 34% of people admitted they text while driving (vdriveusa.com). So that means there are 66% of people who don’t admit it.
Every year hundreds of people die every year. One of the major ones is texting while driving 39 states out of the United States banned texting while driving (Austin). This is a good thing so no one gets hurt but we all know people still do it. You can get a ticket for texting while driving and while stopped at a stoplight surprisingly. There are many different distractions like taking your eyes off the road, hands off the steering wheel, your mind off, listen to the radio, eating, drinking, and way many more (Austin page 139 and Just & Keller). There are numerous distractions that all causes crashes. For example, someone not getting enough sleep or someone crashes into people. Not many people get in a crash while texting according to Gabrielle Kratsas “ Only 5% of cellphone-related crashes occur because the driver is texting.” That’s really not a lot because 95% of the crashes that occur from texting they’re from other distractions and other
