Many accidents today are blamed on texting and driving. Careless people who text while being behind the wheel commit murder everyday, killing whoever is behind the other car involved in the accident. Being able to attain a license and drive may be a dream to many young teenagers, but it could as easily become a nightmare. The use of technology has steadily grown over these past couple of years and it is only increasing as time passes, distracting us from much more important things. Texting while driving is one of the biggest issues in the United States. Not only are the drivers putting themselves in danger, but they are putting passengers and others on the road in danger as well. Drivers could easily pull over and respond to their message or phone call as well as turn off their device to cut off any distractions while driving. Furthermore, the intense appealing of texting has over the drivers beats safety. A little more than a quarter of teenagers driving have admitted to responding to text messages or phone calls they have received as they were driving. They also have admitted that it is multiple text messages or a lengthy conversation over the phone. These actions extend the short five second lapse of attention accumulating a higher chance of causing an accident.
The comprising amount of people that text and drive have already been educated and informed about the dangers caused by the repeated effects of texting or using their cellular device while driving. Young people who are in high school 16 years of age or older have constantly admitted to have texted while driving or have been a passenger in cars where the drivers themselves were texting. This age group is most likely to also drink while driving or be with others who drink while driving, which at the end is still one of the many factors that increases the accident rate for this specific age
