A one year old and his mom were shot by a Syrian gun man in the syrian war. A four year old and her dad drowned on their way to the United States. Twins and their parents were blasted by a fire in their home during the war. Horrifically, more than five years after the Syrian civil war began, a reported 470,000 people have been killed. Bombings are destroying crowded cities, and horrific human rights violations are widespread. Basic necessities like food and medicine are scarce. In fact, Stephen O’Brien, U.N. Emergency Relief Coordinator, described Syria as “A slaughterhouse, a complete meltdown of humanity, the apex of horror.” According to www.pbs.org, more than one in ten Syrians have been wounded or killed since the beginning of the Syrian civil war in 2011. 700,000 refugees have made the dangerous treks through the Mediterranean. The journey is not easy. According to BBCnews 2,600 people have drowned trying to reach Greece and Italy in flimsy boats, yet these refugees continue to make these trips and risk their lives(www.db bullseye.com). Only 85,000 refugees out of 65 million are allowed in the U.S. each year (www.independent.com). Currently, there is a total of 500,000 available jobs that these refugees could have so we need to allow more into America. The third and final reason that Syrian refugees should be aloud into the U.S. is that, America is the best place for Syrian refugees to settle down and get there life back to normal. America is icreasingly safer than most countries for these refugees, because in 2016 there have been 16 terrorist attacks on Paris, while in the U.S. there have been 13, therefore the United States is still a safer place than some countries.
