Failure of teachers to adequately prepare students for standardized testing will result in the decrease of teacher’s pay. This is a controversial claim amongst education administrators. A debate has aroused on whether or not teachers pay should be based on student’s standardized test scores. Teacher’s pay should not be based on student’s standardized test scores due to some students are not good test takers, some teachers teach accelerating classes and their students are more advanced, and some students would fail on purpose as a form of revenge on a disliked teacher.

A teacher can do exactly what their job requires, but to a critical teenager that does not matter. Failing a test, talking too much in class, not turning in an assignment are all reasons why a teacher has to give a student an unpleasant consequence. All year long a teacher can be kind and compassionate, but it only takes one error from the student, and to correct him/ her and all the good traits are forgotten. Also, human nature wires the brain to constantly cast the blame on someone else and never ourself. In a teacher- student relationship, the student may do the wrong, but the teenager would rather blame the teacher for his/ her mistake than take ownership. Once a bitter idea is placed in a teenager’s thoughts, it can be hard to change their opinion on the person.
