If the government of Maryland made this legal it would bring more money into the government and this could cause a decrease in taxes for the people because of how much more money is coming in from the industry.
Although there is a counter argument against the sports betting industry I still believe that it should be legal. In an article from David Blankenhorn he says, “First what positive good for society might be gained by legalizing sports betting….its economic impact is similar to throwing your money on the street for someone else to pick it up.” Although some people believe that it doesn't have enough of an economic impact but it does.
The sports betting industry is a pretty big industry. A lot of money goes through the industry and in the united states now every state has the authority to make their own laws on sports betting. In Maryland it is illegal although if the citizens of maryland vote on the law it can be legalized.
