In today's American society, there is an abundance of laws put in place to protect each and every citizen. The speed limit being one of the most important law when it comes to road safety. Even with the multiple variations of the law all throughout the country, it is mostly the same everywhere you go. In places where the area is semi popular the speed limit is somewhere around 25-35 MPH, in city streets it is usually 45-55 MPH, on highways it is around 55-65 MPH, and on interstates it is 65-70 MPH. Speed limit laws are created to help protect all the driver and passenger on the roads and highways of the United States. And if one person breaks the law by speeding it not only puts him or herself in harm's way, it puts all the people who are sharing the road in harm’s way as well. Speeding is dangerous to everyone. In 2010, over 693,000 drivers received small injuries from speeding-related car crashes, 61,000 received more severe injuries, and 37,000 received serious to critical injuries.
