There are many different reasons, however, lets start off with: speed kills. The general public does not have to go too far in the morning from just opening up the newspaper, turning on the radio, watching the news, reading articles online to see that people another person has died in a car accident. Very often if there is no alcohol present at the scene, the police investigating the scene of the accident will say something along the lines of, “it is believed that speed was a factor.” It is plain to see that there is a relationship between people who drive fast, and people who die if they get in an automobile accident. Driving is stressful enough with traffic congestion, without people going faster on the 401. There is another issue with regards to speed which I will discuss …show more content…
For the most part, if I am driving on the expressway I stick to 100 kilometres. I am able to do this because rarely am I ever in the position that I have to hurry to get to where I am going. I give myself more than adequate amount of time to get to my destination. Usually that would be about a half hour bubble so that I do not need to stress about getting there, or not getting there on time. If, in the unlikely, but seldom times I am in a hurry, yes I will do 110, but never above that. I might be in the minority however, I could not say either way. Based on what I have witnessed while driving the many kilometres that I do, which is well over 20,000 per year I would say I am in the minority. This brings us then to the speed and the driver behind the wheel. Let us just say for argument 's sake that the speed limit is increased on the 401 to 110 instead of 100 where it currently sits. Well, now, as I mentioned before, people seem to think that the 110 is a minimum. Which means for those who like to drive 10 to 20 over the speed limit, now instead of 110-120 which is what they do when the speed limit is at 100, now with a speed of 110, now those same drivers could continue with their logic to do 10-20 over that, so now they are doing 120-130 kilometres an hour. It turns into a spiral of recklessness, and people become crazy, and ultimately people will die as a result. You are, after
