A recent study estimated that only 12.8% of the Australian population smokes daily. This decrease in public support could affect the public opinion of a company if its employees are seen smoking outside the premises, especially if the smoke pollutes the entrance to the building. Similarly if quests come to the building and the workplace is polluted with smoke, they could discontinue to interact with the company.
Alternatively, by eliminating smoking in the workplace employees may feel more inclined to work harder and will appreciate the company more. Similarly employees will not be getting sick as often and will not need to take time off to compensate for illness. Employees will also not be as likely to develop disease and need to retire early. Banning smoking will produce a more productive workplace, which implies a greater turn over and financial improvement.
In conclusion, Smoking should be banned in the workplace because it endangers employees, by increasing the risk of disease and illness. Conversely, smoking can negatively effect the reputation and cooperate image of the company. It will also improve the work conditions and environment for
