First of all, smoke from cigarettes can pollute the air with chemicals that are put in them. With a no smoking policy, the air will be less polluted. It will benefit students and administrators that might have asthma or other health problems that do not allow them to be around cigarette fumes. There would be no cigarette butts or cigarette cartons that litter campus grounds. CTC has a lake with ducks and other animals that surround the area. With a smoke-free campus, it will prevent animals from ingesting used cigarettes that are not properly disposed of. I noticed some campuses that do have designated smoke areas, it is littered with cigarette butts everywhere. Often times trash cans are full, with no place to discard cigarette butts. A clean environment benefits the health of animals and a campus with no litter of butts.
Lastly, to promote a smoke-free campus, CTC should put posters of the risks and health problems of smoking cigarettes. Positive posters would also help students refrain from buying and smoking cigarettes. Students can save money and spend it else where that is not harmful to their health. Being a college student is stressful, smoking could be a stress reliever. But there are other alternatives than smoking. If posters were to provide different types of relieving stress, I think it would help that person think twice about smoking a cigarette.
CTC should remain a smoke-free campus. Students can enjoy nature and campus without any negative impacts on their health. It will be a campus people would enjoy attending, knowing CTC promotes having a healthy lifestyle without the need to smoke. A clean environment means clean
