Many may question is sex education necessary for school students? Others may think that it 's a good idea that teachers are taking a step to help guide teens and young adults into the safe path. A sex education class will inform students about health and what major decisions they will make and how it will affect them in the future. To decrease teen pregnancies and infections diseases, schools should teach sex education on topics such as health, abstinence, and safe sex.

Safe sex education allows students to gain as much knowledge as possible, so that the can make confident informed about their personal health ( source 4). Safe sex also gives guidelines into how important safe sex is. Amber Reumon writes, “ Evaluations of safe sex programs show that these programs can help youth delay onset of sexual activity, reduce the frequency of sexual activity, reduce the number of sex partners, and increase the number of condom and birth control usage.” Safe sex education also reduces the risk of unwanted teen pregnancies and the spreading of infectious diseases. Parents should start talking to their about sex at the ages of 9-12 years old. Most parents think that their child is not ready to have the “sex” talk, but it is important that the parent introduce the sex topic with their child. When your child first enters high school they are exposed to a lot of freedom and start to become curious about a lot of things. One of those things your child may be curious about is sex. At ages 14-18 years your child should fully understand the concept of sex, sexual health, and sexual orientation.
