There has been long history of school shootings in the US. The first one happened in 1764 in America. This occurred when an American Indian entered the school and killed the principal and ten children. Another shooting happened in Salisbury, Maryland on March 9, 1873 between two teachers! Since the teacher rejected the other teacher to be in a relationship, the other got mad and brought a gun to school and shot them. These shootings all happened because there was no security there to stop it fast enough. Now there are still school shootings happening today. In 2018 there were 18 school shootings and we are not even halfway done with the year. There hasn’t been any armed security there to stop it quick. As a result, there should be armed security guards in schools.

But maybe it’s five minutes, or closer to ten minutes.” The evidence presented matters because if a police officer is already at the school it will decrease the amount of people injured or killed. For example the shooting at Great Mills High school, there was a security guard there and the shooting was under control under a minute. Also in the National Public Radio (NPR), it says that “New schools are now building doors between rooms and labeling classroom doors on the outside so police and first responders know what's inside.” All of this proves that schools should have security guards because the guards will know what is going on inside and outside of the school.
